Breaking Bad

風風雨雨(风风雨雨)

Pinyin: fēng fēng yŭ yŭ
English: numerous difficulties and hardships. Literally “wind wind rain rain”

This idiom is used for situations in which people have gone though many hardships for some extended period of time. The following example is a more serious example since it’s applied to someone’s whole life:

Simplified
他人生经过很多风风雨雨

Pinyin
tā rénshēng jīngguò hěnduō fēngfēngyŭyŭ

English
He’s experienced many hardships during his life
