The Pop Sentence Project

Over at Mandarin Poster we’ve been working on a new project for the last few months. Our aim is to create a list of easy accessible sentences, based on the 1500 most frequently used Chinese characters, that Western learners of Chinese will be able to relate to. The sentences include references to movies, cartoons, online memes, and culture in general – anything that takes our fancy.

We’re also looking for contributions from the community, too. So if you know of a good reference that can show a character or word being used, and help it stick in the mind of the reader, then send it to An accompanying picture would be useful, though not essential.
